Day 2 in the blogosphere
Wow! Word sure gets around. I’ve been flummoxed by the flood of friends (eek, attack of the killer alliteration bug). Thank you all– I’m still trying to sort out which user-name is whom, so if I haven’t responded properly, please forgive. In any case, I appreciate the welcome.
Today’s task was to finish revisions on the Boudica book (RAVENS OF AVALON). Now I’m trying to polish it. It has been long enough since I finished so that I have a little perspective and can actually *see* where the wording is rough. But it’s also reminding me of the angst I went through writing it, when I realized that no wave of the fantasy-writer’s wand was going to allow the Celts to win. This is the story of a war that the good guys lose. Sometimes that happens, though as 21st cen. Americans we are loathe to believe it. And sometimes the good guys do bad things, a truth that modern Americans are even more unwilling to accept. But I hope that I’ve been able to find some triumph in it all. Or at least some understanding. To do so I had to encounter the Morrigan at a deeper level than I had been willing to do before, and Her perspective is definitely on a trans-human scale.
Had a scrumptious dinner at lwood‘s, at which pentaclemoon was also present. She’s putting together the con-ribbon order list. I’ve got one– “Burn Rome!”
My dying friend seems a little better today, though still unconscious. She’s on pain meds, so waiting is probably more of a frustration to me than to her. If Winifred Hodge’s theories about soul-parts are correct, different bits may be departing at different times. We love and we learn….
